We’ve accepted the invitation of Bike School administrator Martha Boyd of El Paso, Texas to join the Bike School Board of Education—a team of volunteers serving as guest professors for this weekly online bike chat, Thursdays at 9 p.m. Eastern time.

Who’s calling?
Best way to reach Bicycling Monterey at this time is by phoning. See Contact page.
Among callers this week are people with questions about ebike regulations, high school mountain bike teams, where to bike, bicycle touring, Sea Otter Classic, bike apps, are bikes allowed on 17-Mile Drive, Pebble Beach during the Concours d’Elegance, and more.
If we don’t know the answer to your question, we can usually refer you to someone who does!
Who was biking in City of Monterey recently? Residents from around Monterey County as well as visitors to the county. Take a look.
Tourism has definitely picked up! It remains critical to stay abreast of pandemic-related directives of the Monterey County Health Department (or health officials in locales where you live or visit). Refer to https://bikemonterey.org/covid-19-advisories-for-monterey-county-california-and-beyond.html
As staff writer Pam Marino reported in the Monterey County Weekly on July 19 (“Monterey County joins other California counties in recommending masks indoors, even if vaccinated against Covid-19“): Monterey County Health Officer Edward Moreno has joined health officers of Napa, San Benito, and Santa Cruz counties in recommending that people wear a mask indoors in public settings as well as in crowded outdoor settings, even if fully vaccinated. The rise of Delta variant is the main reason for the recommendation.
Kim Neill of Idaho, a former Monterey County resident and a Bicycling Monterey supporter, was passionate about the Great Outdoors! We are among those saddened by Kim’s death, from cancer, on June 15, 2021. And we were honored to receive this month a contribution in Kim’s memory.
