Tip for using Monterey-Salinas Transit
Are you thinking of taking your bicycle on a Monterey-Salinas Transit bus for this Sunday August 22, 2021 event? As announced by MST in their August 13 service updates, the Line 23 Salinas – King City service on weekends will be restored to pre-pandemic levels, beginning Saturday, August 21.
On Sunday, August 22, 2021—Ciclovia Soledad day!—MST Line 23 has a 10:50 a.m. departure from the Salinas Transit Center that arrives in Soledad at Front & San Vicente at 11:48 a.m. For the return trip back to Salinas, there’s a 4:21 p.m. trip that leaves Soledad Mission Shopping Center and arrives at the Salinas Transit Center at 5:18 p.m.
For your ease of reference, below is the new MST Line 23 schedule, in its entirety (three pages), which was helpfully provided by MST. Remember that this schedule goes into effect on August 21, 2021.
Also, kindly remember that masks are required of everyone aboard MST.
For all schedules for the MST system, visit https://mst.org/maps-schedules/route-list/
What to do if the bicycle rack on an MST bus is full?
At the driver’s discretion, you may take your bicycle inside any MST bus. If you do, it’s important to (1) keep a firm grip on your bicycle and (2) keep your bike out of the aisle.
Why “at the driver’s discretion”? Sometimes a driver knows that on that particular route, they will soon have, for example, someone boarding with a wheelchair, or a large number of passengers boarding, which would result in the bus being crowded.
