Commercial Wharf II says, “It’s unanimous!”

There are neighborhoods in Monterey County that are red hot for the HER Helmet Thursdays Project—a project launched in 2009 demonstrating Monterey County’s extra bike friendliness.
One such neighborhood is Monterey’s Commercial Wharf II. There, the first HER Helmet Thursdays participants, Sandbar & Grill and London Bridge Pub, were soon joined by Sapporo’s Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi.
When Allecia at LouLou’s Griddle in the Middle* heard about HER Helmet Thursdays, she didn’t hesitate with her response:  “I’m in!”
Thus by June 2010, this friendly waterfront neighborhood was in complete agreement, saying, “Here on Wharf II, you’re in an extra bike-friendly zone.”

*Regarding LouLou’s, note the sign below, in their window on May 15, 2022, about being open only limited days (Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon) at this time. Check with LouLou’s for any updates.

Commercial Wharf II is wider and less heavily traveled by pedestrians than Old Fisherman’s Wharf / Wharf I, so people are welcome to bike on Wharf II. It’s a terrific place to catch some sweeping views!

A good neighbor

Wharf II’s neighbor, Lopez Taqueria and Liquor, is also in the project. This taqueria with indoor tables is across Del Monte Avenue, on the corner. In the photo below, see it across the intersection and on the left.
