The woman accosted on Robinson Canyon Road commented afterward that she had read Gavin de Becker’s book The Gift of Fear: Survival Signals That Protect Us from Violence. She stated, “It was thanks to this book that I flipped around and started descending the climb! I kept telling myself that it would be fine to continue up, but I remembered the first illustration/story in de Becker’s book.”
Bicycling Monterey’s Bike Calendar has Important Notes for calendar users. The #1 note includes a reference to de Becker’s book Protecting the Gift: Keeping Children and Teenagers Safe, and Parents Sane.
