Reflecting on Monterey Car Week
We value history. And it can be fun to check out historic cars.
Then we come home and hear news of yet another extreme weather event.
Today it was a family member reporting a flash flooding emergency, prompting water rescues and evacuations in their community. They see firsthand what’s happening worldwide: humanity’s choices have led to changes in climate.
Is there no hope? We believe there is. And we choose to focus our attention not on climate crisis, but on climate hope—actions being taken by increasing numbers of individuals, local communities, states, and nations to be far better stewards of the earth! After so many years of widespread climate denial, most people have come to understand that it’s vital to reduce carbon emissions and otherwise help protect this beautiful planet.
For those who want to reduce the impact of transportation choices on climate change, whether by personally biking as often as you’re able, or by supporting others in biking—e.g., by advocating for infrastructure improvements, or by educating people who bike or drive—we are here to help. Contact us anytime.
As Jill Warren, chief executive of the European Cyclists’ Federation, told Forbes in December 2023: “Cycling is one of the most sustainable and healthy means of transport that exists, yet cycling remains under-prioritized in the mobility mix in most places around the world and in the wider climate agenda….The potential for cycling (and walking) to help address climate change is huge and within our grasp.”
