Master Calendar for Bicycling Monterey County: Activities, events, meetings, deadlines, and more

Scrolling Bicycling Monterey’s home page will bring some special dates to your attention, such as Bicycle Leadership Conference, California Trails and Greenways Conference, Sea Otter Classic—a four-day Celebration of Cycling, and more.

But unless you visit the Master Calendar for Bicycling Monterey County (click here)you may miss other happenings. The calendar includes many activities, events, bike-related deadlines, and more that may not be found elsewhere on the Bicycling Monterey website.

If you have a biking or bike-related activity, event, meeting, etc. that takes place in Monterey County and is open to the public, you’re welcome to submit it for the bike calendar.

The calendar can help you meet low-riders, road cyclists, fixie riders, families who bike, mountain bikers, and others. Whether you’re into social rides, racing, beach cruising, bike commuting, touring, or anything biking or bike-related, the master calendar, along with Bicycling Monterey’s main resources / bike community leaders directory, can help you find fun happenings.

What’s up with those posts? They’re for locking up your bicycle above Del Monte Beach near Tide Avenue and Surf Way, Monterey. They’re evidence of increasing recognition that—even when they’re not headed to a bike-related activity or event—more people are biking in Monterey County, including people who bike to the beach. To advocate for bike racks, bike lanes, and other bicycling infrastructure, check the calendar for any action alerts that may have been submitted. Also reach out to the infrastructure contacts on the main resources / bike community page.

“Biking to the pier to go fishing is nice, Dad, but do you think we could also find some other bike things to do?”
“Sure, sweetie. Let’s look over the Bike Calendar and see what’s going on.”

Whenever you’re looking for bike-related things to do, start with the Bike Calendar.  It lives under the “Resources/Los Recursos” tab at BikeMonterey.org AKA BicyclingMonterey.com.

You can also access the calendar by using this short link:  http://bit.ly/BikeCalendar

Children, teens, and adults of all ages, locals and tourists, benefit from bicycling. The calendar has activities for all of them, and most are free.

A grassroots effort established in 2009, the Bicycling Monterey site and projects are provided by Mari Lynch in partnership with the community. To help maintain and expand these resources, contributions are appreciated. Thank you for your consideration and support.
