What’s planned for the day?
Beautiful Monterey County views, with rider’s choice of a 20, 50, or 100-mile route [8-mile option now available too]. Tasty snacks and helpful support along the way. A gourmet meal at the finish, with fellow riders and other friends too.
In essence, a day of summer fun! And at the same time, raising funds to help local residents on the path to recovery.
Non-riders are indeed invited to share in the post-ride gourmet meal. Simply purchase a meal ticket, $10.
Recreational ride or race?
This is a fun ride, not a competition. If you prefer to compete with your gal pals or the guys you typically race with–or just want to race against your own record–sure, go for it! Just be certain to follow California bike laws and safe riding practices.
Who’s riding?
All ages are welcome, “anyone whose legs can reach the pedals.” Helmets are required at packet pick-up for all ages. (By California law, they are required for everyone under 18, including riders in bike trailers.)
See some of the first registered riders; click here.
How long will the ride take?
Times will vary. Again, this is not a race but a recreational ride.
Most riders will finish the 20-mile route within 1.5 to 2.5 hrs; the 50-mile route, 3-5 hrs; and the 100-mile route, 5-10 hrs.
Help along the way
Courses open at 8 a.m. Water and snacks will be provided at aid stations. Volunteers will be at key intersections, and signage will mark the courses. Course closure for 20-mile ride is 11 a.m.; for 50-mi, 2 p.m.; and for 100-mi, 30 minutes before sunset.
Fun-raising, fundraising, and raising awareness about recovery
Beyond having the joy of the ride, riders raise funds and awareness about Bridge Restoration Ministry, a local nonprofit that helps restore the lives of people overcoming addictions. The top three fundraisers will be awarded prizes.
