Monterey County Transportation: Quick Build; Central Coast Hwy 1 Climate Resiliency Study; Passenger Rail Survey

The below is a followup to the June 3, 2020 Transportation Agency for Monterey County Bicycle and Pedestrian Facilities Advisory Committee meeting.

Don’t whine about infrastructure (e.g., https://bikemonterey.org/why-get-involved-in-infrastructure-planning-north-fremont-monterey-and-other-projects.html); get involved. TAMC Bike-Ped meetings are open to the public, and more participation is encouraged—including by youth and young adults. The info below is posted verbatim from an email received June 4 from TAMC transportation planner Madilyn Jacobsen. Regarding the first item, “Presentation on Quick Build,” note on page 22 of the June 3 meeting packet (https://www.tamcmonterey.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/BPC_June_Agenda_PACKET_2020_6_3_Meeting.pdf) the header “COVID-19 Opportuni􏰊ties” and that TAMC staff “encourages jurisdicti􏰍ons in Monterey County to consider implemen􏰍ting these programs and applying for Ac􏰍tive Transporta􏰍tion Program funding.”

Network Integration Study: The Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) is excited to announce the release of its Passenger Rail Public Survey. We invite you and your community to take this survey to provide your feedback on your priorities and opinions regarding potential new passenger rail service throughout the Monterey Bay Area and the rest of the Central Coast!

The survey will support the development of the Monterey Bay Area Rail Network Integration Study, which is currently being drafted by TAMC. This study will lay the foundation for the implementation of new transit opportunities and additional passenger rail service in the region, connecting residents throughout the Monterey Bay Area and the Central Coast, as well as providing connections to the San Francisco Bay Area to the north and the Los Angeles Basin to the south. A draft of the study is anticipated to be published in winter 2020.

Next TAMC bike-ped meeting is scheduled for August 5, 2020, 6 p.m. https://www.tamcmonterey.org/board-committees/bicycle-pedestrian-committee/meetings-agendas/ For more information, contact:
