Complete Streets Workshop at CSUMB, Earth Day 2014

Traffic on Lighthouse June 2010 - DSC00288This workshop is free and open to the public.

Tuesday, April 22nd (Earth Day 2014)
9:45 AM to 12:00 PM
CSUMB Alumni & Visitors Center – for location tips, scroll to end

Summary. Our roads are going to experience more bikes, pedestrians, transit, and vegetation–moving away from predominantly cars and asphalt–since the State of California has adopted requirements for multi-modal street design and full on-site stormwater retention for all developments, including parking lots. When planned and constructed together, this infrastructure maximizes utility, compliance, and aesthetics. Come see what it means to be a “Complete Street,” a “Green Street,” and how to interpret the new stormwater regulations, which will also improve walkability. And see where in Marina this is already happening!

This workshop is appropriate for professionals and the community at large. It will be of particular interest to people interested in sustainable infrastructure, land use, engineering, and construction and facilities management, including bicycling advocates, urban and  landscape designers, planners, watershed managers, artists, place makers, and more.
