Why Thursdays are great for people who bike in Monterey County

Males and females, locals and visitors are discovering that Monterey County is an especially bike-friendly place on Thursdays!  Countywide, HER spots (hotels, educational and entertainment venues, and restaurants, and related places–including wineries) give discounts to cyclists.  Click here for details.

There are some date restrictions, such as special event weeks like the AT&T Pro-Am.  However, many locations still wish to honor the HHT discounts at these times, so phone ahead and check with them.

Find these extra bike-friendly spots in Big Sur, Carmel, Carmel Valley, Castroville, Del Rey Oaks, Gonzales, Greenfield, Marina, Monterey, Moss Landing, Pacific Grove, Salinas, San Ardo, Sand City, Seaside, and Soledad.

Lalla Grill at the Del Monte Center, Monterey

With the warm welcome and consistently courteous , efficient service shown by Lalla staffers such as Rob (pictured above), no wonder all the Lallas are popular spots.  Lalla Grill is a HER Helmet Thursdays charter participant, as are her sister restaurants Lallapalooza on Alvarado Street, Monterey and Lalla Lounge/Elli’s Great American, Salinas.

Below is a pictorial sampling of other businesses and organizations that are participating.  Happy Thursday!

Consider a visit to one of the Sandbar’s  neighbors, because Wharf II is unanimous about HER Helmet Thursdays!

Here’s one such neighbor, with several dining rooms:  the London Bridge Pub:

Nicolas Gasca, owner of Taqueria del Mar in New Monterey, was one of the first 100 participants.

National Steinbeck Center, Salinas is just one of many Old Town participants.
