On April 21, 2013, some Sea Otter Classic exhibitors supported the Monterey County Youth Center bike class in very tangible ways.
Read the names of these exhibitors below. And please visit their websites to learn more about these caring businesses and organizations.
The class is held at the Monterey County Probation Department Youth Center and serves boys ages 14-17 from all over Monterey County.
Sea Otter Classic itself is also a supporter of this class. To learn how, click here, then scroll down.
Each contributed item serves one or more of the following purposes:
- to support instruction with quality equipment and supplies, so students can develop more effective bike maintenance and repair skills;
- to celebrate the students’ graduation from bike class, in good standing;
- to support the students’ maintaining their own bikes following graduation; and
- to help the students identify themselves as members of the bike community!
The businesses and organizations making these contributions were among the exhibitors at the Expo of the 23rd Annual Sea Otter Classic. This bike exposition is North America’s largest, with a record-breaking 405 pre-registered exhibitors in 2013.
The class was founded and is run by volunteers. One of these is volunteer Repair/Maintenance Instructor and eclectic cyclist Luciano Rodriguez, who has volunteered from July 2012 to the present.
As of April 2013, he has also raced Sea Otter Classic for eleven consecutive years, including as a Cat I/Pro Singlespeed Cross Country competitor, and as a Circuit and Cyclocross competitor.
Thank You, Bike Class Contributors
