8th Anniversary – HER Helmet Thursdays

Created and launched in Monterey County, HER Helmet Thursdays is one of many Bicycling Monterey projects. (Outside Monterey County? Catch the vision.) The 8th Anniversary of the HER Helmet Thursdays Project was Thanksgiving week 2017; check out the 8th Anniversary guide below.

HER refers to Mother Earth, who benefits from more people biking!H-E-R is also an acronym for Hotels, Educational attractions and Entertainment venues (flexibly defined—including some spas and retail shops), and Restaurants and related places (such as wineries, delis, bakeries). 

Beginning fall 2017, bike shops and services were invited to participate also. See these bicycle shops highlighted in “Bike to Shop, including HER Helmet Thursdays discounts.”

To be included in the new guide, Monterey County businesses and organizations not yet in the project were welcome to sign up online by November 15, 2017. (Deadline was extended from previously announced deadline of Nov 1.)

Missed the deadline?

• Year-round, new participants are welcome to sign up.

• Year-round, the database of participants is updated regularly. A HER Helmet Thursdays map is auto-generated from the database. Learn more about the map on the Listings/FAQs, etc. page.

• The Quick Reference Guide (e.g., HER Helmet Thursdays Guide – 8th Anniversary Edition – Participants as of 30 Nov 2017) is updated less often, typically annually. New participants won’t be added to the guide until the next edition.
