On April 24, 2013, volunteer instructors of the Monterey County Probation Department Youth Center Bicycle Repair and Safety Class were among those honored at the youth treatment center’s 10th Annual Appreciation Day.
The Youth Center recognized that “Each year community members and collaboratives enter our facility to offer support, motivation, and guidance to our youth. We appreciate all that you do. ‘It takes a village to raise a child.'”
In addition to the instructors from the Bicycling Monterey-organized bike repair and safety class, individuals from another thirty-three provider organizations were recognized. See full list below. [And for the April 2014 list, click here.]
Certificates of appreciation presented to each provider came from California Senator Anthony Cannella, California Assembly Member Luis A. Alejo, Monterey County Board of Supervisors Chair Fernando Armenta, and Monterey County Probation Department Youth Center Director Richard Gray, Probation Services Manager Joe Grammatico, and DPO III Marlo Mendoza.
Officials attending included Supervisor Fernando Armenta; Salinas Chief of Police Kelly McMillin; Millie Perea, Field Representative for Senator Cannella; Erica Parker, Field Rep for Assembly Member Mark Stone; and others.
