International Day at Naval Postgraduate School
International Day, April 27, 2019, noon to 4 p.m., is a rare opportunity for the general public to enjoy the Naval Postgraduate School campus. It’s also one of Bicycling Monterey’s favorite events!
- Event admission is free.
- All persons age 18+ must show government-issued photo ID at the gate.
- Foods from nearly thirty countries will be available for purchase. Food tickets are $1 each, or purchase 22 tickets for $20.
- This celebration of culture and diversity includes live music and dance performances.
- Consider using active transportation (i.e., biking, walking, skateboarding, scooting) to reach the NPS campus. If your point of departure means your schedule and stamina don’t allow biking all the way, consider a bike-and-ride option.
- The NPS campus is near the City of Monterey’s section of the Monterey Bay Sanctuary Scenic Trail.

- International Day is held on the NPS Academic Quad. http://my.nps.edu/documents/10180/108523081/Visit_CampusMap_Image.jpg/a23f45fa-78a9-41ce-a98b-ed89898442bc
Bicycle helmets for all ages are required on the Naval Postgraduate School campus—for civilians as well as for military personnel.
Bicycle parking on the NPS campus is restricted to bike racks/corrals. There are good bicycle parking facilities in various locations around the NPS campus, as pictured in this post’s photos (above and below), provided courtesy of Joe Strunk.
Note that usual protocol for the NPS campus includes that “bicyclists are required to pass through the entrance gates while on the road. Sidewalks shall be reserved for pedestrians traveling on foot.” (Source: http://my.nps.edu/documents/111291366/111353794/SafetyGram_Bicycle.pdf/041f85b2-134f-45d5-a293-40ea70ed550e.)
