Salinas Social Rides Close Out Monterey County Bike Month 2015

Two social rides will launch from Oldtown Salinas to close out Bike Month 2015 fun:

For May 30, Salinas Community Ride,  see tips on the http://bit.ly/BikeCalendar.
For May 31, Burrito Bike Ride, click here for tips.

Salinas is an increasingly happening place when it comes to social bike rides and more. Get started connecting by reviewing “What to do in Salinas: The Monterey County seat.”

Help keep the local bike scene cool by following California bike laws, Salinas ordinances, and safe riding practices.  See “Riding Skills, Safety, and CA Bike Laws–Tips for Children, Teens, and Adults.”  For a quick summary, see Be Cool, Be Safe – Bike Law Summary & Advocating for Biking or Leyes de ciclismo de CA – Laws for bicyclists in CA (Spanish, English) – Summary

Notice how no one is riding their bike on the Main Street, Oldtown Salinas sidewalk pictured below? That’s because those riders–part of the May 2013 Burrito Bike Ride gathering–were hip to Salinas sidewalk ordinances. It is not permitted to ride your bike on sidewalks in some areas of Oldtown Salinas, as indicated by posted signs. To learn more about sidewalk riding and local ordinances in Salinas and throughout Monterey County–along with the pros and cons of sidewalk riding–click here.
