Voting info: Official government websites
For the most accurate, detailed, and up-to-date information, visit official government websites. These include:
- United States – https://www.usa.gov/how-to-vote
- State of California – https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/
- County of Monterey – https://www.countyofmonterey.gov/government/departments-a-h/elections/vote/
Voter registration
All U.S. voters can check for their voter registration deadline by starting with: https://www.usa.gov/voter-registration-deadlines
For Californians, the last day to register to vote for the June 2, 2026 Primary Election is May 18, 2026; see details: https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/. If you miss that deadline, refer to Same Day Voter Registration (Conditional Voter Registration) https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/voter-registration/same-day-reg.
Check your voter registration status
Californians, it’s quick and easy to check your voter status. You can confirm that you are indeed still registered and all set to vote, as we did (partial screenshot below). How? Go to https://voterstatus.sos.ca.gov/

Voting info: Other websites
Some people find non-governmental websites more user-friendly, but be careful to get info from reliable sources!
One widely trusted resource about registering to vote, finding your polling place, and more is nonpartisan website https://www.vote411.org/ launched in 2006 by the League of Women Voters (LWV) https://www.lwv.org/, a nonpartisan organization founded in 1920.
