BMX presentation in South Monterey County
Thanks to Lacey Kistler, a San Lucas School teacher, for her persistence over two years that resulted in a BMX presentation by pro riders Chris Hughes and Lennie Westfall for San Lucas and Bradley students. Read the January 20, 2023 story in the King City Rustler—a report written and photographed by students:

Kudos to students Daniel Alvarez, Juaquin Cruz Jr., Antonio Fijar, Marcos Sandoval, and Xavier Zuniga for shooting the photographs, and Antonio Fijar and Josephine Mendenhall for writing the article. Thanks also to their journalism mentor for this story, freelancer Sean Roney.

As reported in the Rustler story, in addition to performing flips and stunts, Hughes and Westfall also taught the students about teamwork, bullying, and healthy relationships. For some bullying resources on this site, go to https://bikemonterey.org/street-harassment-and-other-bullying.html
